VitaBoxTerms of Use
VitaBox is an application provided by ThreadedCodeLabs in Spain. By using VitaBox, the user (hereinafter, the "User") confirms having read and understood these terms of use and accepts them.
Nature of the Service
VitaBox is a tool for organizing and filing information about medication, intakes, symptoms, doctors and appointments, as well as for reminders. VitaBox is NOT a medical device, does not provide diagnosis, does not calculate doses, does not detect interactions between medications and does not offer medical advice of any kind. The information VitaBox displays reflects solely what the User enters and must not be used as a substitute for the judgment of a healthcare professional.
Minimum Age
VitaBox is intended for people over 18 years of age. If the User uses VitaBox to manage another person's medication (for example, a family member or a person in their care), they declare that they have legal authorization to do so and consent to process that person's information.
Basic Conditions
Using VitaBox requires registering an account (username and a valid email address, or signing in with Google) and internet access. Basic use of VitaBox is free; some features require a Premium subscription.
VitaBox is distributed through the Google Play Store and its associated infrastructure. The User will use that store independently of ThreadedCodeLabs, and the Google Play Terms of Use will apply in addition to these.
For some features, VitaBox will need to access the camera, notifications and other data on the User's device, which it may only access with the User's express consent. Depending on the operating system, the User will have to confirm or may block such access.
Advertising
The free version of VitaBox may display advertisements provided by third parties (Google AdMob). Before displaying personalized advertisements, VitaBox requests the User's consent in accordance with applicable data protection regulations. The User can avoid advertisements by subscribing to the Premium version.
Premium Subscription
VitaBox offers a paid subscription ("Premium") that removes advertisements and enables additional features (such as the shared household).
- Price and plans: the subscription may be offered on a monthly or annual basis. The applicable price is the one shown to the User on Google Play at the time of purchase, and may vary by country, taxes or exchange rate.
- Billing and management: the purchase, billing and management of the subscription are handled through Google Play. ThreadedCodeLabs neither receives nor stores the User's card details.
- Automatic renewal: unless otherwise stated, the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the price then in force, until the User cancels it. At least fifteen (15) days before renewal, the User will be informed, to the extent the platform allows, of the renewal and of the consequences of not canceling it.
- Cancellation: the User may cancel at any time from Google Play (Play Store > Profile > Payments and subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; the User retains Premium access until that date and the unused portion of the period is not refunded, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
- Right of withdrawal: as a consumer in a distance contract, the User has a period of fourteen (14) days to withdraw. However, if the User expressly requests the immediate commencement of the digital service and acknowledges that they lose the right of withdrawal once it has been fully performed, that right may not apply, in accordance with consumer regulations.
- Free trial: if a free trial period is offered, the User will be informed of its duration, what it includes and whether it automatically converts into a paid subscription, as well as how to cancel it before it ends.
- Non-payment: if a renewal payment cannot be processed, access to Premium features may be suspended or revert to the free version, after any notice required by applicable law.
Upon losing Premium status, the User is NOT removed from the shared household: they remain a member and no data is deleted, but access to the household is locked until the subscription is renewed, at which point it is restored exactly as it was. If the User prefers not to renew, they may leave the household of their own accord, retaining a copy of the medications, doctors and appointments in their personal collection.
Shared Household Functionality
VitaBox allows the creation of a shared household where several members share a medication catalog and stock control. Each User can belong to only one household at a time. Personal preferences (allergies, favorites, active treatments and reminders) are individual and are not shared. When joining a household, personal medications are migrated to the shared catalog. When leaving it, a copy of the shared medications is added to the User's personal collection. Anyone who invites another person or shares information declares that they have the right to do so.
Reminders and Notifications
VitaBox may send local reminders and alerts. ThreadedCodeLabs does NOT guarantee that reminders, alerts or notifications will be delivered or received in a timely or complete manner, as their delivery depends on factors beyond its control (operating system, "do not disturb" mode, battery saving, device restart, permissions, connectivity). VitaBox is a support tool and does not replace the User's own diligence or the judgment of a healthcare professional. The User must not rely solely on the application to decide whether or not to take a dose; the intake log reflects solely what the User enters and VitaBox does not independently verify whether a medication was actually taken.
Data and Availability
VitaBox stores the User's data on Firebase (Google Cloud) servers, as detailed in the Privacy Policy. ThreadedCodeLabs will strive to ensure high availability and reliability ("best effort"), but does not guarantee that VitaBox will be continuously available or that data cannot be lost, delayed or corrupted due to network, device or service failures. The User is advised to export or back up their information periodically using the application's export feature.
If the User uses VitaBox on a rooted or jailbroken device, ThreadedCodeLabs will not be responsible for the security of the data on that device. The User is responsible for protecting their password and access to their account.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ThreadedCodeLabs will not be liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of VitaBox. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits ThreadedCodeLabs' liability for damage to people's life or health, for willful misconduct or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory Spanish law or the User's rights as a consumer. VitaBox does not replace professional medical advice, and the User is solely responsible for their medical decisions.
General Conditions
ThreadedCodeLabs may modify these terms of use. Changes that substantially affect the User's rights or the way the service is paid for will be notified by reasonable means at least thirty (30) days in advance, unless the law requires a different period. The User may stop using VitaBox at any time. Continued use after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of them, unless the law grants the User a different right.
Without prejudice to mandatory legal provisions, the use of VitaBox will be governed by Spanish law. If the User is a consumer, they may bring proceedings before the courts of their place of residence and retain the mandatory rights granted to them by the law of their country.
